Color Combos Galore Challenge #194

It's time for me to say goodbye. I've been with Color Combos Galore for a year now, and have decided to step down as I need to take some time out. So Challenge #194 will be my last challenge with the CCG Design Team. I can't thank Janet enough, for the amazing opportunity that she offered me, and I can't thank all the ladies on the team enough, for their amazing friendship and support. It's been a wonderful, wonderful journey. (-:

Here's my take on this week's challenge. Yes, I know this isn't a typical "me" layout. But with everything I had going on with Keana, I just couldn't find my mojo, couldn't get in the zone, and really struggled to scrap. But I have wanted to record our daily schedule for quite some time, so this was the perfect opportunity, since the designer's challenge was to work with numbers.

Color Combos Galore Challenge #191

Challenge #191 is live and rocking over at Color Combos Galore. The Designer's Challenge this week is to document your best Mother's Day present. The colours include gold, yellow, off white, and cream.

Here's my take on this week's challenge. Titled: You Are My Best And Greatest Gift. Originally, I was going to title it "You Are My Greatest Gift", but when Keana saw the title and read it, she said "No mummy! It has to be - you are my BEST and greatest gift". So I smiled at her and agreed. (-: Who knew that Pink Paislee's Soiree papers would match so well, lol! Believe me, they were not the first papers I thought of when I saw this challenge. And that beautiful green flower is, of course, from Zva Creative. I would be so lost without their stuff. It's amazing how much I have come to rely on their products. The envelope and letter are from Doodlebug. I fell in love with them and bought 5 in different colours.

For my envelope, I added a litttle gold flower charm, some string to keep the flap tied closed, and some mini alphas from Cosmo Cricket and Glitz.

I wanted my flower to have a little extra sparkle. So I covered the stamens in the centre with glue, and coated them with some gold glitter.


And I finished off my misted butterfly with a gold butterfly charm in the centre.

Color Combos Galore Challenge #190

Here's our challenge this week for you over at Color Combos Galore. Isn't it pretty? Challenge #190 includes blue, olive green, taupe and yellow. The Designer's Challenge is to create a layout about siblings or pets.

It's about my darling Maine Coon that was recently killed. I miss her so much. Color Combos Galore Challenge #187

It's a new month over at Color Combos Galore, so we have a new theme for you. This week, Challenge #187 is all about getting wet and messy. The colours include red, blue, yellow, and green, and the Designer's Challenge is to use "wet" products. Here's my take on this weeks challenge. Titled: Hello Sunshine. For my "wet" products, I've used Glimmermist around the outer edge of the cardstock, Dimensional Magic on the button cutouts, and Stickles glitter to highlight the arrow and turtle cutouts. Products used: Nikki Sivils papers; Zva Creative felt flowers; Sassafrass alpha stickers; Cosmo Cricket mini alpha stickers; Liquid Pearls; and Autumn Leaves stamp.

Color Combos Galore Challenge #185

I hope you like bright and cheerful, because that is what we have for you this week over at Color Combos Galore. This week, Challenge #185 includes Red, Chartreuse, Brown and White, and the challenge is to use unexpected patterns/prints. So, are you up for a fun challenge?

Here's my take on the challenge. Titled: Oh How She Sparkles. It's one of very few layouts I have ever done without journalling. I usually feel a layout is incomplete without journalling, but in this case, I felt the photos and title said it all. Sorry I don't have any detail shots, but I did this layout quite some time ago, before making the decision to show details. I absolutely loved these colours and the challenge, and I think I might have to do another one like this, lol!!!

Color Combos Galore Challenge #184

Another week has rolled around already. Damn, it will be Christmas again before we know it, lol!!! This week at Color Combos Galore we are still with Fashion Week. Challenge #184 includes pale pink, dark pink, bronze-gold, and mustard seed. The Designer's Challenge this week is to use sheer ribbon. Or if that doesn't do it for you, take your inspiration from the photo.
Here's my take on this week's challenge, and believe me, it was a challenge!!!! After all, mustard seed isn't a colour I use much (or should i say, at all?). Thank goodness for Glimmermist - it saved the day again. My layout is titled "Always Believe In Yourself". My photograph isn't great, so I apologise for that. The afternoons(when I usually get photos done) here have been cloudy and overcast for a few days. You see that pretty flourish and flowers - that's a new Prima flourish. They are divine!!! And the background has been covered with Opal Dust but it doesn't show too well in the photograph. So, are you all ready for a scrappy weekend? I hope to get a couple of layouts done (or purge my stash if I get the time). (-:

Color Combos Galore Challenge #182

We have something a little different for you this week over at Color Combos Galore. This month's theme is Fashion, so challenge #182 is all about elegance, flair and charm. The colour combination consists of white, beige, silver and taupe.

And as we all know, these are not colours I would usually choose for myself to work with. But guess what? I absolutely loved them. They came together a lot better than I expected. My layout is titled "Dreams". And I've included little notes in the envelope for my daughters to read (about my dreams and hopes for their futures). The lighting when I took this photo wasn't great - the layout is a lot more white and silver (not so much cream and blue-white). Products used: Zva Creative pearl flourish and pearls; Prima flower; Amercian Crafts ribbon roses; Maya Road kraft envelope; Kaisercraft chipbvoard alphas; Hambly transparency; Martha Stewart paper doilies; Chatterbox lace paper; Glimmermist; Tissue paper; masking tape; gesso; and Bella die cut paper.

Color Combos Galore Challenge #181

This week's challenge at Color Combos Galore is just the sweetest!

Challenge #181 consists of turquoise, green, lemon yellow and off-white, and the Designer's Challenge is lace and all things filigree.
Here's my take on this week's challenge. Titled: K. My green isn't quite the right shade of green. I had problems with my mists - I couldn't get the right colour. Plus I was running out of time. So I claimed artistic freedom and went with the green you see above. (-: I've used Prima papers, Dusty Attic and Scrapware chipboard, Prima flowers, and American Crafts rose ribbons.

Yes, this is my husband. And no, he is not going to forgive me for doing this to him, lol!!! (-: My layout is titled:" My Love. Really?" I decided to let my artistic side out this week. I don't do masculine layouts often, so I decided to just have fun with it. Mmm... I think I had better go and beg for forgiveness now, lol!!! (-:

Color Combos Galore Challenge #178

Here's the color combination this week over at Color Combos Galore. Isn't it pretty? This is Challenge #178 and the Designer's Challenge is to use rub-ons or stamps. We have a guest designer and featured member joining s this week, so don't forget to drop by and check out all the inspiration.

This week I couldn't find rub-ons in the right shade of green. I have hundreds of rub-ons, but none in mint green. So please forgive me as my green is not a perfect match. But I think I did okay with everything else. Titled: And So She Begins To Bloom. Color Combos Galore Challenge #177

This week over at Color Combos Galore we have a very pretty colour combination for you. Challenge #177 consists of teal, white, lemon yellow and black. The Designer's Challenge is to use metal, lace and flowers.

This week, I opted for something a little different. Firstly, no photos of my daughters'. Secondly, I decided to get messy with my background and used masking tape, gesso, and Glimmermist. Oh, so much fun! And very, very addictive. The more I play with this stuff, the more I want to keep using it. To finish off I splattered some yellow Glimmermist over the background, then randomly added yellow rhinestones to the splatters. My metal piece was the blue metal flower and brad. I've relied on Hambly stickers and transparencies, rather than papers, for my colours this week. Thanks for dropping by! (-:

Color Combos Galore Challenge #175

Ready for something different? This week at Color Combos Galore, we have Challenge #175 for you. Lots of bright, glorious colours - orange, greens and white. And the Designer's Challenge is to use the word "comfort" in your title or journalling. We have lots of guest designers this week who have joined us, and have added even more inspiration in the gallery.

As I said, we went for something different this week. (-: This is my take on the challenge. Titled: Do I Look Comfortable? I played with my Glimmermists, and some K & Co papers, a few Prima flowers, a pack of Kaisercraft pearls, and I was done. Plus a couple of punches that I used too! I can honestly say I'm happy with the end result - very unexpected, but I love it!!!

This is my layout for this week's challenge. Girly, pretty, and feminine. Titled: Stay My Little Girl Forever. I went all out with the butterflies this week. And I delved into my Prima stash of flowers and vines - it's been neglected recently. (-: I'm really happy with the end result, especially since I was a little uncertain about the colours when I first saw them. But that's the whole idea about challenges, isn't it!!! LOL!

Here's my layout for this week's challenge. Titled: They Call Him Misty. The layout is about Malayla's Year 2 teacher whom they have nicknamed "Misty". I have misted a mesh background in purple, then added a white Hambly grid transparency over top. This is my take on this week's challenge. Being summer over this side of the world, I decided to turn the festive colours, into a summer layout. (-: Titled: Sassy And Sweet. I've used a huge mix of papers on this layout - Pink Paislee, Echo Park, Lilly Bee, Fancy Pants and The Girl's Paperie.

Color Combos Galore Challenge #171

This is my take on the challenge. I was inspired by a layout Watanabe created over on the Crate Paper blog, a few months ago. Titled: Little Miss Moo (it's about the nickname I gave my daughter). I can't believe I actually used vellum - it has been forever since I've used that stuff on a layout. But I'm really happy with the end result. The ribbons were too bright on their own, but with the vellum over them, they no longer over-power the photos. Products used: Making Memories charm and die cut; Hambly rub-ons; Bella! chipbaord alphas; Carolees Creations mini alpha stickers; American Crafts (?) chipboard shapes; Chatterbox brads; Tattered Angels Glimmermist; Heidi Swapp ghost shape; and Zva Creative pearls.

Color Combos Galore Challenge #170

Another week has already slipped by. I can't believe how fast Christmas is sneaking up on us. (-: This week Color Combos Galore brings you challenge #170, with the perfect colours for a Christmas layout. There's a medium green, strawberry red, brown, and cream/beige. And the Designer's Challenge is to use the word "GIFT" in your title or journalling.

And of course I couldn't help myself, I just had to use this beautiful picture of my girls. Their red t-shirts matched this colur combination perfectly. Layout titled: With You Every Day Is A Gift. I've used a mixture of manufacturer's and products on this layout, including Making Memories, Jillibean Soup, Sassafrass, Pink Paislee, Tattered Angels, Bella! and Maya Road. This is one of those layouts that just kind of fell together. (-: It started with the left over Jillibean Soup paper (red and cream polka dots) on my desk, then went from there.

CCG #169 and WIP Kits...

This is probably one of my favourite, ever colour combinations from Color Combos Galore. So pretty, girly, dainty and feminine. This is Challenge #169 and the Designer's Challenge is to add shine and sparkle. And if you join in the fun this month, you could be in the running to win a fabulous prize from our sponsor - Work In Progress Kits (WIPKits).

Here's my take on the challenge. Titled: So Beautiful. The flourish I have used is from Zva Creative, (as is the rhinestone strips), and it is the same colour as the gold baubles in the challenge picture - that's where I took my inspiration from. It was a large flourish which I simply cut into smaller pieces. The papers are really old (maybe 3 years?) Daisy D's. I have been holding on to them forever, for just the right project - and this was it!!! I've also added Glimmermist to my handmade roses, but it's a little hard to see (it has been raining here and is not good for trying to photograph layouts!).

Color Combos Galore Challenge #168

This week we have Challenge #168 for you over at Color Combos Galore. The colours include brown, yellow, white and burnt orange. The Designer's Challenge is to use birds.

Here's my take on this week's challenge. I have gone with "cute" again. (-: And look - there are no children in the photo (gasp! shock! horror!). I enjoyed making this layout - it was pure fun. And I got to mess around with my glimmermists and make some flowers too. I have also used a NEW DESIGN rhinestone flourish from Zva Creative (CRS-03CB-107), along with their felt flowers (FL01Cb116, FL01CB115, and FL01CB117) and gemstone brads (BRBK02CA101). The papers are from October Afternoon, and the stickers are from Hambly.

We have a stunning and elegant colour combination for you this week over at Color Combos Galore. Challenge #167 includes plum, pale green, black and turquoise. Aren't these colours just so divine together? And the Designer's Challenge is pleating.

Here's my layout for this week's challenge. Titled: Sweet About You. I wasn't sure where to start this week, so I started with my new Martha Stewart punch. (-: I'm slowly becoming a punch addict. Sigh! Like I need another addiction.
