Magic Happens Layout

Sigh...one day my life may become a little less chaotic, and I'll be able to keep up with blog posts. Just don't hold your breath yet, lol! Since I last posted on here I have gotten engaged, been to Uluru for a two week course, had my youngest daughter sign with Pride Models, and had surgery. So yes, I have definitely been busy.

I have become a Design Team member for Meg's Garden. Once a month I will be sharing a project I have created on the Meg's Garden Blog. Below, is my first project - a layout called Magic Happens. This was my September Project. You can find the full blog post right here.

 "MAGIC HAPPENS..."
This has got to be one of my all time favourite layouts. I totally decided to go with a whimsical theme, and it just flowed from there. I started with the cut-out image of the book, and built my layout around that particular item. My aim was to express how much magic a book holds within. For a full description and more photos, please check out the Meg's Garden blog.

I had so much fun with this layout, creating all the little details and elements.

Thanks for stopping by and joining me, and I look forward to your next visit. If you have any questions about this layout (products or techniques used, etc.) please do not hesitate to ask.

Magnolia Lane Kits For Sale...

I have some left over kits from the Brisbane Scrap Expo, earlier this year. I am selling them for $20 each plus $11.95 postage and handling. There are two different kit options. The first one is the original layout that I taught at the Scrap Expo, while the second kit has a layout and two cards. Both kits come with full instructions, Magnolia Lane papers and embellishments. They also include a bonus Couture Creation feather die, and a small pack of mixed ephemera.

This is the original layout that I taught at the Brisbane Scrap Expo. This kit includes everything you need to create this layout, with plenty left over to create a card or two.

This is the second kit option, with the two bonus cards shown below.

If you would like to purchase either of these options, please leave a comment below, or click on the tab at the top of the page that says "Contact Me". You can also message me via Facebook if preferred.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
Cheers xxx

Prima May BAP 2016

I cannot believe how long it has been since I've found time to do a challenge sketch. This month I've done the Prima Build-A-Page sketch challenge, and here's my end result. As is my nature, I've gone with beautiful, bright, bold colours...sigh...I just can't help myself, lol!

"BE YOURSELF"
I am in awe of my daughter, and her strength to be herself, to express herself, and to stand out from the crowd. Malayla, like me, is an artist, but she has no fear of accepting that and making it part of herself (it took me a lot longer).

Here's a few close up photos of all the details.
If you don't have the correct colour chipboard alphas, what do you do??? You paint them of course (using Dylusions paints for an awesome colour and coverage).

I have had these vines for a long, long time. I'm so glad I kept them and didn't throw them out. I think they may have been in one of the first ever batches of vines that Prima created.

I hoard Prima resin too, lol! I have soooooo many that I need to use.

Flowers, and glitter. Yes, I went to town with both of these. :)

Layers. Lots and lots of layers. This is not a page to sit flat in an album, so I guess I will frame this one, and hang it on my wall. It is, after all, one of my new favourite layouts.
Here's the sketch that I used for inspiration. It's not my usual style, but that was half the fun, and the point of the challenge.
Thanks for joining me, and I hope you are having an awesome week!

Have you heard the news? I'm teaching at the Brisbane Scrapbook Papercraft Expo in June. If you've ever wanted to know how I create my pages, layer those papers, doodle those lace edges, or create those cute medallions, now is the time to find out.

Tickets can be purchased here: http://scrapbookexpo.com.au/scrapbook/

Every kit will be filled with Magnolia Lane goodies, including the very rare feather die that is now "out of stock". You will receive papers, paper ephemera, trinkets, a full pack of bling, pearls, lace and many pretty things.

And everyone will have the chance to win some bonus embossing folders!!!

I hope to see you there!

Prima Design Team Application

I guess I'm a sucker for punishment, lol! Every year Prima announces it's Design Team search, and every year I apply (except last year - I was busy getting a separation and divorce). After all I have been through in the past 12 months, I was hesitant to apply this year, but a certain Stephanie Devlin kicked my behind, and told me to get my act together. Lucky I love that woman, lol!!!

So, this one's for you Steph! Let's keep our finger's crossed. :)
And before we go any further, I'd like to wish all the Prima DT applicants the best of luck. Putting yourself out there isn't easy, but for a select few, the reward will be worth it.

PROJECT 1: STEAMPUNK MINI CANVAS
I have always loved creating canvases, and this is one of my all time favourites. Mixing chipboard and metal can create some amazing effects.

PROJECT 2: WISHING WELL
This project was a huge learning curve, and extremely fiddly, but the end result was completely worth it. This was a project I created for the Australian Scrapbooking Ideas magazine, using a Pringles can as the base.

PROJECT 3: DREAM CATCHER
I have recently started creating dream catchers. This is the very first one I ever created, and it now hangs proudly in my youngest daughter's bedroom. I must have done something right, as she is not a fan of anything pink, but she couldn't wait to claim this as her own.

PROJECT 4: PRECIOUS FRAME
I have recently started buying old and unwanted frames, and repainting and decorating them. This was my very first attempt with an old brown and boring frame. It now has a second lease of life.

PROJECT 5: HAND-MADE BRACELET
A girl has to make a living somehow, so I decided to learn how to create bracelets (and other jewellery items), and I now sell these items in my Etsy store (Jules & Bling).

PROJECT 6: HAND-MADE BRACELET
Here's another of my jewellery creations. Have I mentioned how much enjoyment I get out of creating these? I love playing with the colours and embellishments.

PROJECT 7: LAZY SUMMER DAYS LAYOUT
What can I say? I love colour!!! Mix it with some texture and layers, and the results can be spectacular.

PROJECT 8: LOVE... LAYOUT
This one is all about the softness and femininity.

PROJECT 9: ADORE LAYOUT
There's something addictive about layering flowers in-between layers of paper. I think it's the illusion of depth that makes it truly magical.

 PROJECT 10: SHINE BRIGHT LAYOUT
This one was all about the gold and glitter. And using stamps to create a background. Throw in some spray droplets and hand-written journaling, and what do you have? FUN!!!

PROJECT 11: WHAT MAKES YOU BEAUTIFUL LAYOUT
Sometimes, it's the border that makes and determines the layout. Finish with spray mist, flowers and bling, and you have a gorgeous feminine page.

PROJECT 12: I SMILE BECAUSE OF YOU LAYOUT
I have always been a fan of colour, and unusual colour combinations. This layout was no exception. I tend to gravitate towards bright and bold.

PROJECT 13: FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS LAYOUT
Sometimes, less is more. White space will never go out of fashion. :)

PROJECT 14: HAPPY BIRTHDAY EASEL CARD
Easel cards are truly special. They create such a beautiful 3D image.
Seriously, who wouldn't want to receive one of these on their birthday???

Like all artists, I have second guessed myself so many times in choosing which projects to show case. Are they my best projects? Do they look good enough? Should I add more? Should I add less? And you know what - the worry isn't worth it - I'm letting it all go and leaving this one to the universe. I love what I do, and I'm just thankful that I get to share this amazing hobby with other crafters.

So I will take this moment and say thank-you for joining me, and thank-you for taking the time to view my projects. And regardless of the outcome, it has been a huge honour to share these projects with you.

Cheers and happy crafting, xxx

Brisbane Scrap & Papercraft Expo June 2016

I still cannot believe this is happening! I can remember 10 years ago when I used to go to this convention and take classes with tutors that I adored and worshipped. Now I have to pinch myself because I AM one of those tutors!!! I am absolutely honoured, and thrilled to bits, to be one of the tutors at this years Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo in Brisbane, 10-12th June 2016.

I would love to see you there. Drop by and attend my class, or stop by and say hello.
Here's the link for the CLASS TIMETABLE.
You will find me in Classroom 1 with Arnold's Scrap Book Supplies.

Hope I get to see you there!

Just Cruising Along...

Well, this has been a HUGE year for changes. I'm still trying to catch up with everything that has happened. For starters, did you know I am now wearing reading glasses!!!. Oh my goodness! They are taking some getting used to, lol! Secondly, I have taken up creating and making jewellery - I have some beautiful bracelets available in my Etsy Store (Jules & Bling). Thirdly, I am teaching at the Scrapbook & Papercraft Expo in Brisbane in June (10th-12th). You can find me in Classroom 1, working with Arnold's Scrap Store. And finally, this amazing offer happened - I am teaching next year in April (2017) on the Needleworks Patchwork, Quilting and Papercraft Cruise, sailing to New Zealand on Celebrity Cruises.

This is where you will find me next April:

So, who's going to join me for the best scrap experience ever??? :)

4 Years On With Imaginarium Designs...

I have spent four AMAZING years with Imaginarium Designs. I love this team with all my heart, but it is now time for me to move on. Life has called, and it has other plans for me at the moment. So I will share my last two Imaginarium Design projects with you, and several other projects that I have created over the years during my time with Imaginarium Designs

DREAMCATCHER
My very last project with Imaginarium Designs. Not an easy project, but the final product was completely worth the effort. This now proudly hangs in my youngest daughter's room.

PRECIOUS BABY FRAME
My second last project with Imaginarium Designs. This item is actually for sale in my Etsy store if anyone is interested (link at the top of my blog).

 KNOWING YOU CANVAS
My second ever canvas. I created this back in 2013, and it is still one of my favourite creations. This also hangs proudly in my eldest daughter's room.

BELIEVE WALL PLAQUE
Another of my favourite projects. I just love all the details and butterflies.

DREAMS CANVAS
My second favourite canvas - I created this for a charity auction back in 2014. I have no idea who purchased it, or where it now hangs, but I sure do hope it brings smiles to someone's face.

MAGIC LAYOUT
Layouts have always been my "thing". I was a late bloomer when it came to off the page projects and canvases. This is still one of my favourites. Created back in 2012.

PRETTY KITTY LAYOUT
Over the years, I have learnt not to be scared, and to scrap in different styles. Here's one of my more grungy attempts. Created in 2014.

 TOTALLY ADORE LAYOUT
How time flies, lol! I think I created this back in 2014 at the E2C Retreat. I can remember wanting to experiment with layers and washi tape.

GIRLY GIRL LAYOUT
Still one of my absolute favourite layouts. I just fell in love with the colours.
Created back in 2012.

And so an era comes to an end.
But I cannot wait to see what life holds for me on the other side of the door that has opened. :)

Happy crafting!!! xxx
