Tutorial: Text Typing on Layouts

I have a tutorial that I am sharing over on the Paperhaus blog. It explains how to create text journalling on a 12" x 12" layout, with a basic printer. For all the details, and photographs, please head on over to the Paperhaus Blog

 "SURVIVAL"

This project is a Design Team layout for PaperHaus, and is my "journalling" project for January. I created this layout to record my feelings about the struggle we had to help Bolt survive.

Bolt and her siblings were my first experience at raising foster kittens. I've since learnt it is not easy, and it is often very, very heart-breaking.

I created the text on this layout using my normal printer. I do not have a 12" x 12" printer. To see how I created this look, just hop on over to the PaperHaus blog for the full tutorial.

I had fun with lots of fussy cutting and layering. I LOVE Prima papers for that very reason. Oh, and for all the beautiful colours.

Thank-you for dropping by, and  I hope you have enjoyed this layout.
I'll have more layouts to share with you in a few days. I'm busy at the moment in my craft studio with end of month deadlines, and a few surprises for next month.

Big Hugs. x

Are you ready to have some fun with the January Sketch over at Sketches With A Twist? The January twist is to use CHEVRON anywhere on your layout.

Here's the January sketch that I created (I love this sketch - I had soooo much fun with it).

 "2012"

And this is the layout that I created using the January Sketch and twist (I used chevron washi tape on my layout).  I die-cut lots of coloured doilies, and layered them with Martha Stewart doilies.

Products Used: Pebbles Inc. papers; Pebbles Inc. stickers; Martha Stewart paper doilies; Liquid Pearls; washi tape; and Kindy Glitz.

Happy scrapping! xxx

Imaginarium Designs January Projects...

I actually posted these on the Imaginarium Designs blog a few days ago, but I have been so busy moving house that I haven't had a chance to post these on my blog, until now.

 "Love These Crazy Kitties"

This is my first January project for Imaginarium Designs. I created this on a 12x12 chipboard sheet, using lots and lots of chipboard alphas for the layout background. You can find all the details on how I created this  (plus extra close-up photos) on the Imaginarium Designs blog

Here's a close-up of the title. I kept it white so that it created a lovely contrast with the other colours and textures on the background.

I added texture paste to the alphas to create the lovely rough texture on each of the alphas. They have simply been covered with Tattered Angels Glimmermists.

 "Adore"

This is my second January project for Imaginarium Designs. I decided to challenge myself by using a colour combination that I wouldn't usually use - aqua, red, and gold. Well, I won't say it was easy, lol!!!

You can find more details (and close-up photos) of how I creatd this layout, and the techniques and products used, on the Imaginarium Designs blog

Thank-you for dropping by. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Me? I'm going to go explore the new town that I now live in. :-) I might even share some photos soon.

Monthly Challenge January 2013

I've been so busy moving house I nearly forgot to upload my personal monthly challenges. I don't know when I will find time to play with these inspiration examples, but hopefully I'll get lucky and find some time, before the end of the month.

My sketch creation for January. Do you like?
Please feel free to use this sketch to assist your inspiration. All I ask is that you give me credit for the sketch if you blog or post your layout anywhere.

Here's my monthly Pinterest colour and inspiration challenge for January.
I wanted something completely different, and I think this is perfect - pale blue, red, pink, polka dots and florals. What an amazing combination. :-)
I hope you might join me and play along?
If you do, don't forget to link your layout to my post so that I can come and visit,
and leave a little love too. I would love to see your creations.

Happy scrapping everyone!
Big hugs. xx

Changes To The Routine...

It's been quite a while since I've done a personal blog post. Probably because I've been busy, life is hectic, and there just are not enough hours in the day (plus I tend to rely on Facebook a lot more). But I think it is time to fill you in on all the details of what has been happening.

There are going to be some big changes to our routine.

Firstly, we have decided to move again. We are moving up into the Adelaide Hill, and my girls will be changing schools again. It's not a big move - it's only 30 minutes up the road, and we are all fine with it. But it means I will not be scrapping much for the next few weeks while I pack and move. But I promise after that, I will get back into my routine of scrapping and blogging, when possible.

I have also made the decision to go back to the gym and my training. This will take up a fair bit of my time. But it is what I want and need to do. Blood, sweat, and tears, here we come. This has lead me to my decision to close down my store "Scrapbook Kits". If I have to choose between running a store and working on my health and fitness, I am choosing health and fitness. I do not have the time to do both.

And now that my girls are older, we have a lot of school and extra curricular commitments. I spend at least three evenings a week taking them to training sessions for their sports related activities.

In addition, I also foster cats and kittens from Flick's Cat Rescue. It's not always easy, and often times it is heart-breaking. But the rewards are worth it. This baby below is a former foster kitty (Spook) who has now become a permanent part of my family. I could not part with her. :-)

So for those who are wondering, I now have 3 of my own adult cats, and 3 additional kittens who have joined my family as permanent members. I currently have one foster cat (Oreo Cookie) with another one due to join us after the 10th January (Lulu is a Scottish Fold, and I can't wait to meet her).

Finally, I will continue my Design Team commitments with Imaginarium Designs and PaperHaus. I love working with these two teams, and I wouldn't change that for anything in the world.

But that is as far as I plan on taking my commitments for the moment. This year I need to focus on my family and myself, and making some major changes.

I hope your year has started out a little less hectic than mine, lol! :-)

PaperHaus January Sketch...

The new January sketch has been posted over on the Paperhaus Blog. Will you come and play with us?

Here's the sketch that I have designed for this month.

And here's my take on the sketch. I couldn't resist doing a Christmas layout - it was the perfect sketch for multiple photos. I have used a Noel Mignon Christmas Kit (Glad Tidings) to create this layout. (I love Noel's kits - they come fully packed, and completely co-ordinated, all ready to scrap with!).
Hugs and kisses, xxx
