Color Combos Galore Challenge #177

This week over at Color Combos Galore we have a very pretty colour combination for you. Challenge #177 consists of teal, white, lemon yellow and black. The Designer's Challenge is to use metal, lace and flowers.

This week, I opted for something a little different. Firstly, no photos of my daughters'. Secondly, I decided to get messy with my background and used masking tape, gesso, and Glimmermist. Oh, so much fun! And very, very addictive. The more I play with this stuff, the more I want to keep using it. To finish off I splattered some yellow Glimmermist over the background, then randomly added yellow rhinestones to the splatters. My metal piece was the blue metal flower and brad. I've relied on Hambly stickers and transparencies, rather than papers, for my colours this week. Thanks for dropping by! (-:

I'm On A Roll!!!

Seriously, I'm speechless. I just found out I've made it onto the finalist list for the My Scrapbook Nook DT search. I've been so busy with life and getting my girls back to school that I had actually forgotten all about it. (-: Yeah, I know - daft!!! (-:

Zva Creative January DT Blog Hop!

Zva Creative and the Design Team welcomes you to join us this month for a blog hop that we feel is always extra special!

There is now an added twist to our blog hops, YAY! As you know, Zva offers so many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals. We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog: http://paperhugs.typepad.com/paper_hugs/. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, just follow along the blog path. I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on FIVE of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...Woo-Hoo! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts today, January 24th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, January 25th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, January 26th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well (linked above). We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday...plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

My assigned colour for January was green. So I have gone all out with this one. Yes, I know I should have put up a warning about needing sunglasses to view this layout! But why spoil the fun??? Titled: Do Not Disturb. Zva Creative products used: rhinestone flourish (CR-03CA-115), silk flowers (FL01CB106 and FL01CB110), felt flowers (FL-01CB-114 and FL01CB116), bulk 3D flowers (small green), rhinestone strips (CR01CB113), gemstone brads (BRBK02CA101), and pearls (PE-02CB-102). Other products used: Sassafrass papers; Maya Road doilies; black journalling pen; foam tape; and kindy glitz.

The blog hop begins here: Kim Hughes http://paperhugs.typepad.com/paper_hugs/

Your next stop is here: Windy Robinson http://windyrobinson.blogspot.com/

Thank you SO MUCH for joining us. I hope our creativity inspires you to try something new and exciting. And I hope you will come back at the end of February, to join us for our next DT blog hop! And don't forget to check back to find out who the lucky winners are.

Pencil Lines Sketch #222

This week at Pencil Lines, we bring you sketch #222. It has plenty of white space, and the opportunity to make it your own, by embellishing to your own tastes. Our guest designer is Lisa Saunders, and we have a gallery full of inspiration. I hope you drop by and join us. (-:

This is my take on this week's sketch. The layout is titled Wish, and is about Malayla's 8th birthday. I've used The Girl's Paperie papers, and the pearl flourish (PE-02CB-126) is from Zva Creative. I've also used Zva Creative pearls, and bulk 3D roses in pink.

Welcome Little One...

Meet my new nephew, Theodore Dan McKenna. He arrived this afternoon at 4:38pm. This is the first child for my brother Matthew, and my sister-in-law Amanda. He is very long (51.5cms), so he is going to be tall like his daddy, and the rest of the McKenna family. Isn't he adorable? Do you know what this means? I finally get to scrap more boy layouts - woo-hoo!!! (-:

Easy As 1,2,3...

Guess who is featured in this month's Scrapbooking Memories magazine? Me!!! (-: I was contacted by Scrapbooking Memories (last September?) to see if I wanted to participate in their monthly Easy As 1,2,3 Sketch Challenge. I jumped at the chance and said yes. You can see the full article on Page 34- 35 of Scrapbooking Memories. Layout titled: Baby You Sparkle. I used a Noel Mignon kit (Sunkissed) for the papers and transparencies; Zva Creative rhinestone flourishes and 3D bulk flowers (roses in blue and pink); Glimmermist; and Prima flowers.

I had to make a card based on the sketch too. Did I mention the sketch was from Anna Bowkis at Pencil Lines. (-: Thank-goodness, because I've had lots of practice this year working with her sketches. Anyway, I used my scraps from the layout, and kept the design and embellishments simple. That way I had less chance of messing it up, lol!!!

Zva Creative January Project No2.

Here's my second Zva Creative project for January. Titled: Shoes. The layout is about a recent shopping trip to buy school shoes. It had been raining for days and we were desperate to get out of the house, so I decided to jump in early and get the school shoes shopping expedition out of the way. But things didn't go according to plan - my daughters and husband all decided they needed new dress shoes too! (-: Zva Creative Products Used: PE-02CB-102 (pearls); BRBK02CA101 (gemstone brads); CRW-02CA-105 (rhinestone flourish); CRP01CB102 (rhinestone alphas); FL-01CB-114, FL01CB116, and FL02CB117 (FELT LOWERS); and 1mm foam dots. Other products used: Crate Paper papers; K & Co tag; Maya Road dolies and chipboard; Martha Stewart paper doilies; Glimmermists; Crate Paper die cuts and chipboard.

Color Combos Galore Challenge #175

Ready for something different? This week at Color Combos Galore, we have Challenge #175 for you. Lots of bright, glorious colours - orange, greens and white. And the Designer's Challenge is to use the word "comfort" in your title or journalling. We have lots of guest designers this week who have joined us, and have added even more inspiration in the gallery.

As I said, we went for something different this week. (-: This is my take on the challenge. Titled: Do I Look Comfortable? I played with my Glimmermists, and some K & Co papers, a few Prima flowers, a pack of Kaisercraft pearls, and I was done. Plus a couple of punches that I used too! I can honestly say I'm happy with the end result - very unexpected, but I love it!!!

Made With Love...

My girls love wearing singlets. I picked up two white ones, for half price from Big W, just before Christmas. But I wanted to add something to them. But not something that would require me to hand wash the singlets - I HATE hand washing at the best of times. And when you have two fashion diva girls, the last thing you want to do is make clothes that can't be thrown in the washing machine. So Iwent through my Prima stash and found two packets of iron-ons. One had the word "Loved" in two different colours, and the other packet had four butterflies of different sizes. So I cut them up, mixed them together, ironed them on, and ended up with these two unique singlets.

Pretty aren't they! So what do you think?
I can see more of these happening in the future.
After all, they cost me less than $10 each to make.

Pencil Lines Sketch#220

We have sketch #220 live for you at Pencil Lines!
This week our guest designer is Jennifer Pebbles.

This is my take on this week's sketch. Titled: Tangled.

Color Combos Galore Challenge #174

At Color Combos Galore, we have a very pretty challenge for you this week. Challenge #174 is all about the pinks, plums and butterflies. Of, so girly and pretty. And we have a new sponsor this month - Stash To Treasure. Make sure you join in the fun this month, because two lucky people will be in the running for a prize!

This is my layout for this week's challenge. Girly, pretty, and feminine. Titled: Stay My Little Girl Forever. I went all out with the butterflies this week. And I delved into my Prima stash of flowers and vines - it's been neglected recently. (-: I'm really happy with the end result, especially since I was a little uncertain about the colours when I first saw them. But that's the whole idea about challenges, isn't it!!! LOL!

More Changes...

Things are slowly changing around here. Because I am now employed. (-: Yes, you heard me right - employed. It's only on a casual basis. But here's the best part - it's teaching scrapbooking classes at Arnold's Scrapbook And Craft Supplies. I'll be doing the occasional technique class, and the occasional layout class. I'll also be doing some display layouts for the shop. How exciting is this? It's exactly what I hoped to do, and now I can. I'll post more details as they become available, just in case anyone is in the neighbourhood and might like to drop in and say hello!

Pencil Lines Sketch #219

Here's Pencil Lines first sketch for the New Year. Sketch #219.
And our guest designer is Trina McClune.

This is my take on this week's sketch. Titled: Hello Princess. I decided something new was in order for the New Year. So I broke out the mesh, the texture paste, masking tape, and some Glimmermist, and went for it. I simply placed the mesh in my desired position on the page, added some masking tape, and pasted texture paste (mixed with Glimmermist) all over it. I also added some Doodlebug glitter. And sprayed another colour of glimmermist over top. I then added a transparency, some paper, some Zva Creative rhinestone flourishes (CR-03CA-115), and some embellishements, and it was done. (-:

My Top 10 for 2010...

Choosing my favourite Top 10 layouts for 2010 is not easy when so many of them have not been revealed yet, or are out for publication. So, from those that remain, and which I can share with you, I have chosen the following: What Would Freud Say. What more can I say? I love it so much I made it my header. (-:

Easter. This layout was based on a Pencil Lines sketch. When I first saw the sketch, I thought I was doomed. It scared me silly. But I absolutely love the end result.

Beloved. This was created for one of the early colour challenges over at The Color Room. Simple, but effective.

2010: Decorating The Tree. Based on a sketch challenge from Crate Paper. I fell in love with the sketch design the moment I saw it.

Breathless. This was the first layout I ever created with a Noel Mignon kit (Sonoma County). And I have been hooked ever since.

Over The Rainbow. I had so much fun with this layout. The concept for this came to me one night, as I was dozing off to sleep. It was a DT creation for Zva Creative.

No Fears. This layout was created using a Pencil Lines sketch. I love this layout because the colours and design are so not me, but it all came together so easily. I think that's what I love most about it - I had to step out of my comfort zone to create it.

Hello Crazy. This is another layout created with a Pencil Lines sketch. Again, I love the fact that I pushed myself out of my comfort zone. I wanted to create something a little more on the grungy side of the fence. And to use stamping and inked edges. But it still had to be pretty. I'm 100% happy with my end result.
So Beautiful. This was a DT creation for Color Combos Galore. I fell in love with the prettiness of these papers, and the layout kind of just came together. I love hwne that happens, because it's not as often as you might think. (-:

1.2.3...Pose. I fell in love with the Pink Paislee Parisian Anthology papers the moment I saw them. I realised just how versatile they could be, when decorated with Glimmermists. Let's just say, aqua, red, and white, is my new all-time favourite colour combination. Thank-you for letting me share these with you, and I hope that I can keep inspiring you throughout 2011. I think there might even be some changes this year..in both my techniques and style.
Only time will tell...

One Little Word...

I've driven my family crazy today, and it's all because of One Little Word...change. That's the word I have chosen as my word for 2011. I've decided to join Ali Edwards this year on the One Little Word journey. I need to change my scenery, change my exercise routine, change my weight, change the colours of my walls at home, change my clutter, change my beliefs, change our financial situation, change so, so much. So I began to today - with changing my clutter. I woke up this morning and had an over-bearing urge to clear it all out. I removed and donated so much clutter from our house, and I'm not even close to being finished. I decided if we are going to change scenery and move to Perth (hopefully at the end of this year, or next year at the latest), then I am not taking a house full of junk with me!!! NO WAY! So it must be gone. And so the change has begun... and I am happy, happy happy...but I can't say the same for my DH - he was a victim of my purge. (-:

Happy New Year!

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all my family, friends, and faithful blog readers (who always bring a smile to my face with their wonderful comments), a very Happy New Year, filled with good health, prosperity, love and laughter. Bring on 2011. It's time to have some fun!!!
